The area is part of the historical region of Lower Carniola. The Boštanj Mass Grave ((スロベニア語:Grobišče Boštanj))—also known as the Boštanj Quarry Mass Grave () or Log Mass Grave ()—is located south of the settlement, next to an electrical transformer by a quarry.
